How Far do the Apples Fall From the Stage?

What would you do if you and your boyfriend (now ex) witnessed one of his bandmates cheat on his wife, then apologize to you, and ask you both not to tell her?

I never spoke up, not even when the band wives (including the one who was cheated on) made fun of me for being ~just~ a groupie/girlfriend (and who knows what else). Ironically, I did not want to hurt her feelings.

My boyfriend, at the time (as hellbent on honesty and integrity as he attested he was), didn’t speak the truth, either (nor did he stick up for me/defend my honor). I guess insecurity and “peer” pressure can silence the conscience of good people, sometimes. Maybe that is why we just “Let It Be.

This situation occurred a few years ago, but it still weighs heavily on my heart. I am sorry your husband cheated on you with some other woman, (a woman you were friendly with). I am sorry for not speaking the truth sooner. I hope you can find it in your heart to “Let It Go.

(If reading about this situation causes you or someone you know to start questioning the amount of trust and respect you may have placed in and have for others, as well as the the validity and viability of friendships with folks like the these, well, most likely, that just means you are “normal.”)
